We can’t be blind to the rise of antisemitism since Oct. 7, 2023
In his Feb. 13 op-ed, “Why criticizing Israel is not antisemitic,” Mark Golden distorts the difference between criticism of Israel’s policies — a time-honored tradition both here in the United States and in Israel — and “anti-Zionism.”
Anti-Zionism — the elimination of the Jewish state and, by extension, the essential erasure of those who live there — merits designation as antisemitism.
Golden also misrepresents the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s working definition of antisemitism, which does not limit legitimate criticism of Israeli policies but instead states that antisemitism includes denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination and holding Jews collectively responsible for actions of the state of Israel.
